Accountant Module Version 1.3:
Integrated into the Calendar function of the GEN7 DeskTop
environment is the Accounting module. This module is designed
to handle up to 4 separate accounts and handles the following
transaction types:
1) Automatic Credit (posts auto deposit checks).
2) Automatic Debt (posts auto debts).
3) Manual Credit for other types of payments and
deposits.
4) Manual Debt for personal or business checks.
The manual debts and credits allow a check number. All
transactions have a memo, recepient and amount fields.
A grace period before and after the transaction may be
specified for the calendar function to begin and stop
alerting the user of the transaction's specified post
date. A music or bell type alarm may be designated to
accompany the transaction when it is displayed on entry
to GEN7. After registration, a program for the AUTOEXEC
file is provided to check the GEN7.CAL file generated by
GEN7, and remind the user every time the computer starts.
A selection off of the main menu allows account balances to
be updated (Desktop F6, then Calendar/Music, then Reconcile
Acount). When a debt or credit is shown, the color of the
words: Manual or Auto and Credit or Debt indicates the
active status of the transaction. A red color indicates
the transaction has not been posted yet. A green color
indicates that the transaction has been posted, and it
is a non repeating transaction. A cyan color means
that the transaction has been posted, and this record
is a repeating template for the transaction (repeating
transactions are stored once, the posted transactions
are copied at post time). One memo file is generated
for each month scanned through in GEN7. The file
names are made of the month and year (GEN7MMYY.CAL).
One repeating transaction file is made (GEN7REPT.CAL)
that contains all repeating records and the account
balances. Take caution in specifying grace periods.
Grace periods that overlap from one repeating date to
another may show transactions as posted, that have not
been. Up to 30 transactions are allowed per month
unless the /cxx option is specified at runtime. The
xx is the maximum number of memos to allow. The
modify feature can change a non repeating transaction
into a repeating transaction, if set before modifying.
These modules may be integrated into one after registration (one
copy of GEN7 can be used to use either the tutors or the accounting).
The GEN7 DeskTop features are:
1) Delete, copy and get file statistics with point and
click mouse operation.
2) Set the system date and time.
3) A calendar is available with a memo function to
remind of appointments or other dates.
4) Play music from the Desktop menu selection (F6).
Music may play continuously in the background
from a selection of a dozen favorite tunes.
5) An analog clock may be displayed for constant
time notification.
6) A Calculator is available for doing simple
arithmetic.
7) An internal editor is provided to allow viewing
or modifying small text files.
An external editor may be invoked from this option,
if the amount of available system memory allows
(approx. 171000 bytes are available in the shell).
8) A method to execute commands within DOS.
Useful Info:
1) A brief synopsis of the internal editor:
a) PgUp, PgDn scroll up and down one line.
b) Cntl PgUp, Cntl PgDn scroll up and down one page.
c) Cntl Y deletes a line.
d) Cntl J inserts a line.
e) The arrow keys work as expected.
f) Home, End, Ins and Del work as expected, but
the Ins inserts one character at the cursor.
g) Alt-S Search forward, Alt-B Search backward.
h) Alt-R Replace forward, Alt-P Replace backward.
i) ESC exits the editor.
Only small text files may be editted.
Invoking the editor is a three stage process:
a) Click on the file to be editted.
b) Click again and drag the icon over to the editor icon.
c) Click again and drag the editor icon cursor into the
work area. Questions are asked about the type of editor.
2) The Daily Quote feature cycles through over 450 different
sayings and jokes promoting Christian values. When one
registers, this feature may be configured so only certain
categories are cycled through, or it may be disabled totally.
Call or write for the availability of other databases to be
used for tutorials, etc..
Enhancements since version 1.2:
1) Available memory is now approx. 171000 bytes instead of
75000 bytes when in the DOS shell (with 610000 free in DOS
before running GEN7).
2) A File Selection mask was added to limit the display of
files in the file boxes.
3) Bugs in the Editor and Setup menu (F8) were fixed.
4) Any number quotes may be reviewed at startup, or just one.
To run the Desktop and Accountant, type:
G7
Songs and some data were generated with PC-HyperText Architect.
Have fun and enjoy this software!
